M.A. Credit Course
The new credit-based system has been introduced for the Masters programme since the academic year 2007-08. Admission to the credit–based programme is through a national entrance test (Dates of the entrance test are announced in national newspapers as well as on the website of the Department). A minimum of 72 credits have to be earned by students across four semesters. Semesters I and II form the First year of the M.A. programme and comprises of the Core Courses while Semesters III and IV are in the second year of the M.A. programme wherein students make a choice from a wide range of Electives.
The evaluation pattern for papers in Semesters I and II will comprise of a mid-semester examination of 40 marks and an end-semester examination of 60 marks. Any deviation from the above standard pattern of evaluation for any Elective will be announced by the Department at the beginning of the Semester during which the Elective is on offer.
