Eligibility |
A
learner being eligible for admission to MSc degree
course in Biotechnology must have passed
a.
Three years integrated course degree
examination of this University or (any other
University recognized as equivalent thereto) with at
least Seven Units in Biotechnology (i.e. the minimum
required for majoring in the subject).
OR
b.
With Three Units in Biotechnology at the T.Y.B.Sc.
in combination with Three Units of any other major
subject at the T.Y.B.Sc.
There is no entrance examination for the purpose of
admissions to the MSc degree course in
Biotechnology. The learners will be admitted to the
said course on the basis of the marks obtained at
the T.Y.B.Sc examination. (Circular no PG/Univ.VCD/ICC/2012-13/8) |
Number of Seats available |
Total of 20 seats + 1 seat for Jammu Kashmir
migrants;
Reservations as per University circular no Aff/Recog.I/Admission
(2008-09)/215 of 2008. Candidates
belonging to reserved category and having domicile
in Maharashtra are considered for admissions in the
reserved quota. Reserved category candidates with
domicile in other states of India are treated as
open category candidates. |
Admissions Procedure:
The forms for the said
course are made available at the department office every
year after the TYBSc results in Biotechnology of University
of Mumbai are declared (between May-June). The notification
for the same is put up on the University website as well as
the department notice boards. Candidates whose names appear
in the merit list are required to secure their admission
-
by submitting the attested
photocopies as well as the originals of statement of
marks, caste certificate and caste validity certificate
(wherever applicable) to the staff-in-charge of the
admissions and paying the fees as shown in table in
cash at Allahabad Bank counter, University of Mumbai,
Kalina between 11.00a.m-2.30 p.m after collecting
challan from department office

In addition to the above students
from other districts to required to submit ‘District
change certificate’
-
Students from other University (Other than Mumbai
University) are required to submit -Attested photocopy
as well as original Statement of marks (HSc, FYBSc,
SYBSc, TYBSc), Migration certificate, Eligibility form
(to be filled in the office during the time of
admissions), transfer certificate at the time of
admissions. The admission of the Candidates failing to
pay the fees or submitting the requisite documents
within the specified time span stands cancelled.
Admissions are strictly on the basis of merit.

Foreign students will have to pay five times prescribed fee.
Fees collected under different heads would be spent only for
specified purpose for which they have been collected.
Fees are to be paid in cash at the
Allahabad Bank, Kalina Branch after procuring the challan
from the department office.
Refund of fees
– as per University ordinance no 0.3574
Attendance:
University of Mumbai has prescribed 0.119
regarding attendance and the procedure to maintain the
attendance. Kindly refer to circular no. UG/502 of 1999
dated 6th October 1999. (Page no. 607 of Vol. II
of the new compendium published by University of Mumbai.)
