1.
LL.M.
The LL.M. Course follows the Semester System and is of a
duration of 2 years (Four Semesters). The academic year, which
consists of two terms, begins in July and ends in May.
The minimum qualification for making an application for
admission to the LL.M. degree course is a Second Class LL.B.
degree obtained at the one and same sitting of this University
or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto for general
category. However, candidate belonging to reserved category they
make an application to the LL.M. Degree course with a Pass
Class.
An application for admission to the LL.M. degree course must be
made in the prescribed form and be submitted to the Department
of Law within the prescribed time, immediately after the
declaration of the results of the LL.B. degree examination of
this University held in first half of every year.
Admission forms for the LL.M. degree course shall be referred to
the Committee comprising of Head of University Department of Law
and the recognized Post-graduate teachers of the University.

The first semester shall be of two Foundation papers and two
papers of an Optional Group opted by the student. The second
semester shall be of two Foundation Papers and the next two
papers of Optional Group. The third semester shall be of last
two papers of the optional group. In addition the students
shall be required to complete doctrinal research as well as
non-doctrinal research. The fourth semester shall be of
dissertation and viva-voce presentation.
2.
M.Phil.
An applicant seeking admission to M.Phil. Degree Programme is
required to have an LL.M. Degree either from University of
Mumbai or any other recognized University with at least 55%
marks or with grade ‘B’ according to UGC norms of grading (for
General Category) and 50% marks (for Reserved Categories).
The M.Phil. Course consist of three papers of 100 marks each
besides Dissertation and Viva-voce. The course shall be of One
and a half years duration.

3.
Ph.D.
Ph.D. requires research work for a minimum period of two years
(24 months) from the date of registration if the candidate is
admitted on the basis of LL.M. In case of candidates
registered on the basis of LL.B. a minimum of 3 years (36
months) of research work is necessary. It is necessary to clear
the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) and Interview for registration for
the Ph.D. Degree Course. However, candidates who have cleared
NET or SET are exempted from appearing in the PET but have to
appear for the Interview.
Every candidate must undergo the Couse work prescribed by the
respective boards of studies as per clause no.13 of UGC
regulation 2009. The duration of the course work shall be for a
minimum period of one semester i.e. 6 months.
Candidates who have successfully completed the M.Phil. Programme
for University of Mumbai or any other UGC recognized
Universities as per the UGC guidelines will be exempted from
course work.
4. POST GRADUATE
DIPLOMA IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS LAW (IPR)
Department offers One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in IPR.
