Radiation Biophysics and Cancer Biology Laboratory

The chief goal of this laboratory is to understand the normal tissue reactions/ tumour response following radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery and hyperthermia alone or combinations of treatments. Currently, this laboratory investigating oxidative stress induced DNA damage, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant status in cancer patients who undergo various treatment modalities like: radiotherapy, hyperthermia, surgery and chemotherapy in alone and combinations. Further this laboratory also investigating protein expression profile following radiotherapy and other modality of treatment. Finally we would like to establish simple laboratory method to predict normal and tumour tissue reaction following radiotherapy/hyperthermia/ chemotherapy/ in cancer treatments.

Research Project (Completed)
1) Image guided intensity modulated radiotherapy: A comprehensive Dosimetric and Radiobiological study.
2) Studies on oxidative stress of various cancer patients of undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy treatment and to evaluate those as surrogate markers for immediate clinical response.
