      Department of Law was established in November 1959 for the  Purpose of imparting post-graduate legal education and encouraging Legal research.            Courses  Offered :-              

  LL.M. (by papers) – Duration 2 years, Semester System.

      The academic year which consists of two terms beings in July and ends in May. 

      The arrangement of terms is subject to change and the same will be notified when       made.

      The revised Syllabus is based on the U.G.C. model curriculum.

      Admission Procedure :-

        LL.M..(by Papers)

        The minimum qualification for making an application for admission to the LL.M.          degree course is a Second   Class LL.B. degree obtained at the one and same          sitting of this University or a degree recognized as   equivalent thereto for          general category.  However candidate belonging to reserved category they
         make an application to the LL.M. Degree course with a Pass Class.

         An application for admission to the LL.M. degree course must be made in the          prescribed form and be   submitted to the Department of Law within the          prescribed time, immediately after the declaration of the results of   the LL.B.          degree examination of this University held in first half of every year.

        Admission forms for the LL.M. degree course shall be referred to the Committee         comprising of Head of University Department of Law and the recognized Post-        graduate teachers of the University.

      Ph.D. in Law :-

          Ph.D. in Law- Minimum 2 Years after LL.M. 3 Years after LL.B.

           Ph.D. admission will generally be restricted to the students who have            obtained the LL.M. degree of this University or of any other University            recognised by this University as equivalent thereto with minimum   of            fifty-five percent marks. and  fifty percent marks in the case of Reserve           Category.  A student who has   obtained the LL.B. degree may be           admitted to the Ph.D. degree if - he has to clear an aptitude test           conducted   by the concerned Department of the University.

             A candidate for Ph.D. Degree must have worked for a minimum period of two         years (24 months) from date    of registration.  A student with LL.B. degree is         required to work for a minimum period of three academi calendar years. For the         Ph.D. Student is required to be in residence in Mumbai for the full period during         which he is keeping  terms and to meet his guiding teacher from time to time.

         POST-GRADUATE CERTIFICATE COURSE IN

         ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION (ADR)

           A Post –Graduate Certificate Course in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
      has been introduced by the Department in the academic year 2004-05 to create
      an awareness of ADR methods among the people and to prepare a large pool of
      trainedprofessionals in the field of ADR who will be able to practice these
      ADR methods to resolve disputes.

             A candidate for being eligible for admission to this Certificate Course should
       be a practicing Advocate or a Chartered Accountant with minimum three years        practice,

          DURATION OF THE COURSE

            The Course will be conducted thrice in a year at the University Fort Campus,
         Department of Law. Duration of the course will be 8 weeks.

            8 Week Duration (56 hours)

            3 hours on each Friday – 5 p.m. to 8. p.m.

            4 hours on each Saturday – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

                                                  and 12.30 p.m. to 02.30 p.m.

          POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN

          INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS LAW (IPR)

             The need of the hour is to create an awareness of the rights relating to
       Intellectual Property since this subject has been gathering much importance at
       National and International Level. Due to Globalization an Liberation   policy of the
       Central Government in the field of Global Trading and Marketing study of these
       branches of Law   relating to IPR has become necessary. 

Department has started One Year Post Graduate Diploma Course in IPR from
       academic year 2005 – 06.

Admission : P.G Diploma in Intellectual  Property Rights Law is available to any
       graduate of any stream of the recognized Universities in India . Admission is given
       on the basis of merit. Only Fifty- seats one available . 


        Fees Structure : Rs. 8000/- per year

                                            Practical Training
