(Profile of the Department) : Department of Marathi
(established on 1st August,
1969)
Academic goals of the
Department :
To generate interest in Marathi
language & literature at higher levels of learning through
the following activities :
1. Conducting post-graduate
teaching effectively.
2. Supervising research at
the levels of M. Phil. & Ph. D. Identifying new areas
of research & Conducting independent reasearch through
various research projects.
3. Organising seminars, conferences,
workshops, symposia, refresher courses.
4. Publishing research monographs,
bibliographies & scholarly books.
Achievements of the Department
:
(1) Introduced innovative
methods in teaching. e.g. encouraging students to make classroom-presentation;
use of aids such as TV/VCR/Tape-recorder.
(2) Students were encouraged
to work in new and interdisciplinary areas, e.g. Dalit Sahitya.
(3) Organized seminars, symposia,
conferences, workshops on various themes. e.g. certain modern
disciplines & insights were incorporated in seminar
themes, such as Stylistics, Semeiotics etc.
